Happy Thanksgiving!
“Laughter is brightest in the place where the food is.”
      – Irish Proverb

What do you love about Thanksgiving? Whether it's the Macy's Parade or football, waking to the aroma of turkey roasting (or being up at 5am to turn on the oven!), or the smell of spice wafting from freshly baked apple and pumpkin pie, this holiday offers all of that and so much more.

When it comes right down to it, Thanksgiving is just that…. "Giving thanks" and love to those that are nearest and dearest. Unsurprisingly, food plays such an integral role in the celebration. Cooking for those you love offers warmth, comfort, healing, and stability in a way that we can all understand.

Whether you share a simple soup or an elaborate multi-course meal, food speaks to our senses and brings people together. A Thanksgiving feast can include delicious wine, juicy roast turkey, savory stuffing, buttery mashed potatoes, gravy, and vegetables galore. Yet, the stories, quality time with friends and family, and laughter make this one of my favorite holidays.

I have much to be grateful for, and it's inspiring me to make a couple of my tried-and-true favorites to share with family and friends, like a Crostini with Fig Paste and Goat Cheese and the most beautiful and delicious Cranberry Upside-Down Cake.

With much appreciation and thanks to all of you,

Joanne Weir
