Let's Make Spiedini!
Recently, so many of us have been working on interesting projects, and one of mine has been studying Italian. And, of course, I've been paying very close attention to Italian words related to food.
I love trying to get the pronunciations just right, and the other day, one word came up in the vocabulary list that really made me smile. "SPIEDINI!"

Like so many melodic-sounding Italian culinary words, just saying it aloud made me hungry! And it also sparked memories of the delectable spiedini that I had after a day walking around the Piazza della Rotonda in Rome. Imagine…sitting in a lovely trattoria and being served bread threaded with mozzarella onto skewers before lightly fried to golden, oozy perfection and served with a dreamy sauce flavored with a touch of anchovy. Delizioso!!!

The Italian word "spiedini" translates to "skewers" in English, and it can refer to just about any food that's been cooked on a stick. In fact, I think I'll practice renaming all the dishes cooked on a stick that I can think of. Shish kebabs, satay, corndogs...Spiedini!

This method of cooking has evolved into countless variations around the world, and it's no wonder. Skewering is a great way to cook something delicious quickly, and it's also a great way to share food with family and friends. So enough of just thinking about spiedini... let's make some!
