I can still remember the first time I travelled to the Piedmont in Northern Italy. The grape harvest had just ended and the truffle season was about to begin. There was this incredible excitement in the air. I went from vineyard to vineyard, tasting delicious wines. Every wine was fantastic and each seemed better than the last.
I hung out in Alba, the truffle capital. Enthralled by this fun town, I ended up buying a whole set of Italian cookbooks at a vintage bookstore...I couldn't resist! Later, as I walked down the main street, I stopped for a splash of Arneis, at Vincafe, which immediately became my favorite wine bar in just about the whole world. I remember every bite of dinner that night at Osteria dell'Arco where I savored an oven-roasted onion filled with a cheesy fonduta and loaded with freshly shaved truffles.
I'm off to the Piedmont again this October and would love to take you on this food and wine adventure! We'll stay at a beautiful 17th century palazzo, where we'll prepare fantastic meals in our hands-on cooking classes. Imagine being able to shave fresh truffles over your handmade agnolotti and creating wild porcini mushroom salad with shards of Parmigiano Reggiano and peppery olive oil. We'll relax al fresco and pair these dishes with Barolo, Barbaresco, Dolcetto and Arneis wines. We'll also visit hidden artisans and wineries not easily accessible to the public. You will soon realize why this has become a true food and wine lover's paradise!
Bring a friend, your Mom, or even come on your own. We take care of all of the details and the best part is that your ground transportation, food, wine, excursions, classes and accommodations are all included.
