I really love the cooking courses that I teach in Provence, and although this year I am teaching in Morocco and Spain, I wanted to bring the essence of southern France into my San Francisco kitchen. After all, our local farmers' markets rival those of St. Rémy and Gordes, bursting with fresh herbs, artisan cheeses, fruity olive oil from Napa and Sonoma counties, local seafood and lamb, the sweetest cherries and stone fruit from nearby orchards and the freshest produce from my Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). And of course we have great wines too!
While there is nothing quite like spending a week in the south of France, I promise you this will be a complete immersion course into Provençal cooking, featuring some wonderful recipes from the region, including Bouillabaisse, Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic, a Cream Tart with Herbes de Provence, Spit-Roasted Lamb with Lavender Salt (we'll roast it in my fireplace!), and decadent desserts like Caramel Pot de Crème and Lemon Soufflé Cakes with Soft Cream, and that's just the beginning of our week cooking together in my San Francisco kitchen. We'll also taste amazing wines made in California, with French varietal influences. Come join me for the best of southern France food in my City by the Bay! |
