Happy Holidays From my Kitchen to Yours

I've had a fabulous fall traveling around Spain, Morocco and the Bahamas but I will tell you, it's wonderful to be home for the holidays!  Plus with all of the exciting stuff I have going on in 2012, it's nice to take a little breather before the craziness begins. For me, I really like cooking when I have the time. Once I get the grocery shopping done, it's fun to be in my kitchen, music playing, cooking away. My 21st annual office Christmas party is coming up and I can't wait to reconnect with my favorite group of women friends who also work from their home offices.  Since I'm all jazzed up about Morocco these days after my October cooking class in Marrakech, I've planned a Moroccan-inspired menu.  With such great, successful women friends at the table, it should be a very fun evening.

Of course as I plan one menu, I'm already thinking about another – and I hope this one will make its way onto your holiday table. It's perfect for that special dinner but the best part -- it won't require you to be in the kitchen for hours on end. When I think about menus, I always think about a theme and in this case I was thinking "winter comfort food favorites."  You can ask your butcher to trim the rib ends of the pork, which will make it much easier for you.  All you have to do is make the straw potato cakes, prep the salad and make the vinaigrette.  You can even make the gingersnap dough (the best in the world) today and leave it in your freezer until you're ready to bake them.  Hey, who will know the difference if you serve some excellent store-bought ice cream to go with them.  And it's always nice to serve a little espresso, chai tea or hot-spiced cider afterwards.

More than anything during this holiday season, I want to wish the very best to you, your family and friends.  Make the most of these times together - they are precious.  Life is about memories and there's no better time than now to make them.

I send you lots of love and happy holidays!
