Giving thanks one cooking course at a time

It may sound cliché, but food and cooking really do bring people together. Lucky for me, this gathering of people and good food happens all the time – and not just because it’s my profession! This month I taught a weeklong cooking course in my kitchen and I have a long list of people to thank for making it special: Inken and Jill for assisting; washing dishes, and smiling the whole time; my student Wendie, afraid to sit next to me the first day of class, but came out of her shell and even brought eggs from her own chickens for our soufflés and honey from her bees! Beth, a longtime student, friend, serious cook and eager learner, brought her foodie friend Cyndy, and planned their next Chicago dinner party based on the recipes we made during the week; Gail from New York who was very thankful she received my course as a birthday gift from her husband. Thanks to my great wine pals, Ceri, Noah, and Tim for their generous time and delicious wines from Italy, California, and Australia. And thanks to Le Creuset for the generous cookware gift for all my students!

Giving thanks shouldn’t just be limited to Thanksgiving, but it seems to be the time we are surrounded by family, friends, and friends of friends, that we sit down and take stock of all that we should be grateful for together. Since I find everyone is a little extra thankful after a great meal, I’d like to share a menu I created for your next holiday gathering.
